Cue this playlist to instantly trigger a sultry, mysterious look or whenever you want to inspire spring’s most kissable lip color: moody mauve.
There’s nothing we love more than healthy, freshly made cocktails (the good instantly cancels the bad, right?!). As a nod to the ’70s, we channeled our inner Betty Draper while preparing this fruit-based twist on a classic martini.
Wow your weekend guests with this Insta-worthy recipe from wellness expert and friend, Kelly LeVeque.
“A Toast and a Spirit” by Vacation Manor.
This debut single from four-piece indie rock band Vacation Manor is as colorful as the thrift store Hawaiian shirts rocked by the members themselves. Keep a look out for their first EP comin’ in hot this spring.
“Good Girls.” Bad Wave.
The boys that make up this synth-pop duo both call Los Angeles home, but claim they take more of a “Postal Service approach” when it comes to making music as they are rarely in the same room. Whatever they’re doing, it’s working — we’re pretty excited to see what they punch out next.
“Bridge Burn” by Little Comets. Album = Life is Elsewhere
We don’t know who first described this as “kitchen sink indie” music, and we’re not entirely sure what it means, but we’re into it. The English rockers make tunes that are just the right level of catchy and we’ll be watching for when they make their way across the pond to tour the US.
“Reeling” by Cory Harper.
Venice local (by way of Portland) Cory Harper is a total babe and we’re not just saying that to score free concert tickets (ahem, we are neighbors…). He’s working on his debut EP now and we’re pretty sure it’ll be full of acoustically magical melodies like this one.
“Broke” by Bear Attack!.
The happy harmonies and colorful guitar chords aren’t quite what you’d expect from a group that calls itself Bear Attack!, but we’re okay with that. They just celebrated their 3,000th Facebook fan and we reco getting on their VIP list while it’s still possible to slip backstage.
“Vacation” by Simen Mitlid.
Classifying himself as “folk/pop,” this indie vocalist comes to us from Oslo, Norway. You can check out his Facebook page here, but it’s mostly in Norwegian so keep your Google Translate tab handy.
“Young Pioneers” by My Golden Calf. Album = Perfume Brute
This Austin-based, four-man band released its first full-length album in February. They’re all over the local live music scene so check ‘em out if you’re ever in the great state of Texas.
“No Harm” by Yes We Mystic.
This Winnepeg-based group is our current favorite import. Think lyrics like “you were a pool and I was swimming” and a cast of cameo appearances from banjoists, violinists and more, For those who love a good throwback, you can order their new album on CD or vinyl.
“Upside Down” by GoldFord.
How this guy managed to staff off-radar for so long is beyond us. You may recognize his already-iconic voice from your favorite Netflix or HBO binge-fest. Check out his lyric video for poetry in motion.
“Family Ties” by Julian Bachlow.
If happy electronica were a legit genre, Julian would be king. He mixes poppy beats and feel-good lyrics (“love is all I have…”) with some good old-fashioned passion. We think it must be what like mainlining sunshine would be like. Cue when you need an instant pick-me-up.
“Golden Coast” by Allison Weiss. Album = New Love
Sure, we’re partial to all things Cali, but this sunny track puts us in the spirit from the first note. Once you’re done checked out her original work, don’t miss her cover of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” for a toned-down version of the hit track.
Sure, your eyes say it all. But sometimes it helps to communicate by way of music just to reinforce your point. These 8 lyrical goddesses sing what we wish we would’ve said at more than one time in our lives. Click, listen, get your Chic Look on.
We’re not saying drink this and you’ll instantly have flawless skin, but this spicy-sweet beauty elixir is chock full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that act like a shot of TLC to skin, hair and nails. Down this baby in the morning to detox after a weekend of indulgence or sip throughout the day to keep sugar cravings at bay. It’s also a celebrity fave when you need to ditch that last few pounds and squeeze into your go-to LBD (bandage dress sold separately).
