Spring beauty and fashion trends always feature a little ’70s inspo. In the spirit of all things groovy, we’re rounding up our fave influences from an era like none other.
Think of a time before cell phones, skinny jeans and Instagram to the days of disco dancers, hippy lovers and motorcycling bad boys. Yeah, we’re talking about the ’70s. Doesn’t sound so bad, does it? Check out our rundown of cultural must-knows to up your cocktail party game:
Lingo. Outfits were bitchin’, the boys were looking groovy, and valley girls like totally ruled.
Icons. Diane Von Furstenberg merged her way on to the fashion scene and introduced the world to wrap dresses and bold prints. Farrah Fawcett skateboarded in her bell bottom jeans looking effortlessly cool.
Films. Dazed and Confused had us wishing we were high school seniors all over again, and Star Wars introduced us to Princess Leia and her trendy af braided buns.
Tunes. Fleetwood Mac stole our hearts with Gypsy, chills ran down our spine every time we heard Hotel California and You’re So Vain made its debut (yes, it was famous before How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.)
Cocktails. Drinks were flowing and anything from a Greyhound to a Piña colada was a classic 5 o’clock order.
Hotspots. You were sure to have a crazy night at Studio 54. Famous and socialites gathered to party until dawn.
Fashion. Bell bottom jeans, big hair and long flowy dresses to list a few of our fave trends. Spoiler alert, they’re hot, again.
